Verified I'm a believer? I'm generally not a chocolate fan, and definitely not a hot chocolate fan, but Koko Monk's changed my perspective on chocolate - I didn't even know chocolate could taste this complex! Koko Monk has amazing drinking chocolate, which is thick, rich, spicy even and yet not overwhelming nor too sweet. They definitely take pride in their chocolatiering and it really shows in their products. The authentic hot chocolate is a good starting point imo as it will blow your socks off compared to the packaged stuff in the grocery stores - think of it as adult hot chocolate with dark chocolate complexity and bitterness. If you're a white chocolate fan, they have an equivalent that is surprisingly not that sweet (which I was floored by since white chocolate is always sickeningly sweet). Both are fantastic. Brunette bangle is also interesting - it has curry in the drink, which makes a lot of sense when you drink it. Curry and chocolate have a natural affinity together when I make curry so why not make it a drink? Cold testament plays on the sweet and spicy notes, if you're into that. Beyond the drinkable chocolate, I think the actual chocolate themselves also speaks volumes. The flavors tingle your palette and will bring your mouth on a roller coast. They describe the chocolate in flavor profiles which have valleys and crescendos, which you find hard to believe until you actually try it. Just follow their directions when consuming the chocolate (i.e. crunch it in your mouth and let it melt) and then you'll go through the rhythm of flavors. Personally I really liked the coco colada (guava) but all the individual pieces are great. The bars are also amazing and unique, particularly the jasmine tea choco bar. It's tea, it's chocolate and somehow neither overwhelms the other. Koko Monk is great and should definitely stop by.

Verified Lovely spot and lovely owner to chat with! We see him making hot chocolates most of the time we're there. This place makes amazing hot chocolates. On Saturdays, they do hot chocolate flights. Every year they also participate in the hot chocolate festival and they come up with a very unique, mystery flavour. The store also sell chocolate bonbons and gelato. All which are superb. The ambiance is quaint. It's a small shop with limited seating. It is very cozy and would be a cute spot for a date or a catch up.

Koko Monk hot chocolates are what dreams are made of. Paul (the owner and chocolatier) makes a science of out perfectly balancing the flavours in his creations to leave you surprised, sated, and inspired. These chocolates and hot cocoas are not run of the mill, Paul experiments with flavours not normally associated with chocolate (watermelon, tomato, pepper) as well as serving up delicious versions of the usual dark, milk, and white chocolates. He is also always friendly and courteous, and full of information about chocolate and flavour science. Definitely come here during the hot chocolate festival (Jan/Feb) when there are 4 new hot drinks to try, but Koko Monk is good at any time of year. On Saturdays you can buy flights of hot chocolate (there are 14 to choose from), which would be a great date for the chocolate lover in your life.

In December 2024, I called to order more online, and finally made it back to the shop in July 2025. Life got busy and I don’t live nearby, but it was worth the wait. I tried their summer special, rhubarb gelato, and wow, it was absolutely divine. The chocolates were just as incredible. I picked up a small box for my husband, a larger one as a gift, and two bags of their hot chocolate mix. Growing up in a rural area of Oaxaca, Mexico, we used to toast our own cacao beans and take them to the mill for grinding. This chocolate brought back those memories, only now with a more glamorous twist of flavors. Anyone comparing this to regular store-bought chocolate probably hasn’t gone through that process. The prices are fair, the service was fantastic, and I hope to visit again a few more times this summer. Truly excellent quality and warm, welcoming service.

Verified No denying it, this is by far the best place to get hot chocolate and tasty hand crafted chocolates. Everything about this place is fresh ingredients, Hand crafted chocolates with flavours that you would never think to combine, but they do and it's magic for your taste buds. And now I hear they have homemade ice cream, again interesting flavours that combined are simply divine. Enjoy !!!

What a great spot for hot chocolate! There’s no shortage of choices when choosing your next dark or white hot chocolate drink. And if you can’t decide, grab a flight! They also offer many bean to bar chocolates, Turkish coffee and gelato. Yum! This place offers some seating with partitions so you can comfortably enjoy your visit. Staff was very kind and helpful. We’ll definitely be back on a regular basis, not just for Hot Chocolate Festival (but you must try their creation - so good!).

The best chocolatier in town! It always brings me so much joy to come here and enjoy a nice cup of unique hot chocolates. My favourite is the chamomile and fig hot chocolate. Paul is also very passionate about what he does. He offered my friends and I tasters of the truffle filling and explained the chemistry of which flavour would hit your tongue first. It was such a treat. The joy doesn't end there cause you can bring those delicious chocolates home with you. Koko Monk is a gem.

I was astounded at the complexity and effort involved in crafting these drinks. The baristas looked like chemists. I appreciate the care put into these creations. I wasn't really sure what to expect as this was my first time at a chocolate bar, but I was blown away. I adore chocolate and I was not disappointed. Each drink was special and unique, but the Black Pearl was my favorite. It was like experiencing Heaven on Earth.

Verified Best chocolates I've ever tried This isn't our first time here but it will always be on our list to visit when we're in Vancouver. We were here 2 years ago and the place is still as great as ever! I'm a huge chocolate lover and I've tried chocolates almost everywhere I've ever been. These creations win hands down. Only chocolate that came close was in St. Augustine in Florida. You won't be disappointed with this place, I promise a unique and delightful experience.

Verified Chocolate heaven When we arrived at Koko Monk the owner gave a 'guided taste sample' of some of his creations. He had us taste and then explore the emergence of one flavor after another from a single bite! That alone was worth coming to the store! There are simply amazing chocolates- each one a work of art- some with more common flavors, some very exotic, but all fantastic. Also chocolate bars made with raw cocoa- I love the Matcha chocolate! And you can take a break from your day with a cup of beautifully served, most delicious and unique hot chocolate. Loved it!

Verified Amazingly original, New Dimensions in Chocolates I don't think I will ever forget the moment that I first time taste their Blue Cheese chocolate. As a European who bored to death from eating same flavours of couple hundred years it was a fresh air, and delicious hope. Well done guys!
