Incredible chocolate experience I tried their signature hot chocolate, but had it cold as it was such a nice day. I have never had a cold "hot chocolate" before, and it doesn't sound great, but it was incredible. The owner is very knowledgable and particular about how he makes the hot chocolate which is great to see. All the chocolate treats look incredible. The best thing about this place is that it's not overly sweet - the chocolate is showcased at it's best!

The artistry that goes into the design of tastes, textures, and visual appeal of their truffles is astonishing and delicious 😋 yum. The hot chocolate menu is whimsical and has an excellent variety for milk and dark chocolate fans. Make sure to take notes on which ones you like so it's easier to re order the next time you go in. We've been going for years and delighted that they survived the covid years. This is a must go stop for us when we visit Vancouver.

Heard about this shop through the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival website. Wish I'd known about it before. The best hot chocolate I've ever had, served by super friendly and helpful people. Huge variety of artisanal chocolates and chocolate bars. Also, handmade ice creams. I'll be back.

I visited Koko Monk at the other location but this one on West Broadway was new to me and I was happy that I visited it and tried their hot chocolate flight last Saturday. Originally I was thirty and wanted to drink something but my husband told me their menu showed a "hot chocolate flight" and it would be served on Saturday only. Of course I would try it! We ordered at the cashier and got a table. A lot of customers ordered chocolates, sweets and hot chocolate from the store. Indeed the store was short staff for the weekend (that's what I felt). Only one server at a cashier and one made hot chocolate or served at the back. One more person worked inside the kitchen who did not even serve customers at all. On a weekend.... Customers just waited in line to order, pay and pick up the food. The pace was quite slow. I hope they would add more staff at least for weekends. The hot chocolate flight (minimum 2 orders) had three small glasses but after drinking all three, I felt I drank one big cup of hot chocolate. They were quite filling but they were not too sweet. One had ginger flavour in it. One was a special hot chocolate. One had a bit of wine or vodka in it but after mixing the alcohol with hot chocolate, It tasted very unique. I was very satisfied to taste three different flavours all at once. I also had a small butter tart. It went well with the hot chocolate. Hot chocolate festival was still running last weekend when I was at Koko Monk. I saw people ordered the special hot chocolate from the hot chocolate festival. I would love to try them but February 14 was the last day. I would recommend others to have hot chocolate here other than visiting Thomas Haas.

Lovely spot and lovely owner to chat with! We see him making hot chocolates most of the time we're there. This place makes amazing hot chocolates. On Saturdays, they do hot chocolate flights. Every year they also participate in the hot chocolate festival and they come up with a very unique, mystery flavour. The store also sell chocolate bonbons and gelato. All which are superb. The ambiance is quaint. It's a small shop with limited seating. It is very cozy and would be a cute spot for a date or a catch up.

Yesterday was my third time visiting Koko Monk hot chocolate lounge-it had been a whole year since I went and I honestly have to say it was the best hot chocolate I ever had. I love that it's all sweetened naturally without refined sugar, and the man working there was very knowledgeable about the products. You can get your hot cocoa with a variety of nondairy milks or cow's milk. They presentation is amazing as well. The flavour I got was called "Shoulder Kiss", which is a white hot chocolate with a beautiful lavender flavour. I also had an apple tart, which wasn't something I would usually choose (I'm a chocoholic!), but was so impressed by its delicious-ness! I highly recommend that you give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. Thank you!

Kokomonk in Kitsilano is a true hidden gem, blending creativity, and warmth into every cup of hot chocolate. Their tomato and rose-flavored white hot chocolate, whimsically named “A Non-Conformist’s Plea for an Imaginary Summer” is NOT. TO. BE. MISSED. It’s unexpected, it’s divine — a bold, floral, and savory-sweet-confusing-exciting combination that feels like sipping a daydream. Tomato in a hot chocolate? Sounds odd, but trust me, it works. The balance is pure magic. Now, here’s the heartbreak: they’re talking about taking it off the menu. If that happens, I might cry actual koko tears. This drink is an underrated masterpiece, and it deserves a spotlight not just in Kitsilano but across all of Vancouver. So if you’re in the area, grab a cup before it’s gone. Trust me, you’ll want to be part of the magic — because flavours like this don’t come around every day. Save the Non-Conformist! P.S. bring a friend and go on a Saturday so you can explore 3x flavours with a flight.

What a great spot for hot chocolate! There’s no shortage of choices when choosing your next dark or white hot chocolate drink. And if you can’t decide, grab a flight! They also offer many bean to bar chocolates, Turkish coffee and gelato. Yum! This place offers some seating with partitions so you can comfortably enjoy your visit. Staff was very kind and helpful. We’ll definitely be back on a regular basis, not just for Hot Chocolate Festival (but you must try their creation - so good!).

Wow, what a find! Come on Saturdays to get the hot chocolate flight (two orders of three flavours). We got the authentic, Rashomon, and harem al turca. Each was complex, rich and not too sweet. Milk substitutions available on every flavour. The owner was very opinionated on what we should get, which I enjoyed, and overall so engaged and friendly. Already looking forward to my next visit!

Chocolate heaven When we arrived at Koko Monk the owner gave a 'guided taste sample' of some of his creations. He had us taste and then explore the emergence of one flavor after another from a single bite! That alone was worth coming to the store! There are simply amazing chocolates- each one a work of art- some with more common flavors, some very exotic, but all fantastic. Also chocolate bars made with raw cocoa- I love the Matcha chocolate! And you can take a break from your day with a cup of beautifully served, most delicious and unique hot chocolate. Loved it!

I love Koko Monk for their unique hot chocolate offerings beyond the typical dark and milk at most places. I got the lyric and dagger white hot chocolate and it was delicious and not too sweet. It reminds me of being at the hot chocolate festival but all year round. Special but not too "out there" and weird. Highly recommend this place if you love hot chocolate and I even got some hot chocolate mix to take home and make for myself.

I first tried these chocolates four years ago when a client gave them to me as a gift. In December 2024, I called to order more online, and finally made it back to the shop in July 2025. Life got busy and I don’t live nearby, but it was worth the wait. I tried their summer special, rhubarb gelato, and wow, it was absolutely divine. The chocolates were just as incredible. I picked up a small box for my husband, a larger one as a gift, and two bags of their hot chocolate mix. Growing up in a rural area of Oaxaca, Mexico, we used to toast our own cacao beans and take them to the mill for grinding. This chocolate brought back those memories, only now with a more glamorous twist of flavors. Anyone comparing this to regular store-bought chocolate probably hasn’t gone through that process. The prices are fair, the service was fantastic, and I hope to visit again a few more times this summer. Truly excellent quality and warm, welcoming service.

Owner's reply
Dear Jedhna, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your incredible experience with us! We are absolutely delighted to hear that you've enjoyed our chocolates and that your return visit was worth the wait. It truly warms our hearts to know that our summer special rhubarb gelato was "absolutely divine" and that our chocolates brought back such cherished memories for you, especially given your connection to the rich cacao traditions of Oaxaca. Your description of toasting your own cacao beans for grinding beautifully articulates the very essence of what we strive for: to offer a chocolate experience that is as close to nature's original intent as possible. You've perfectly captured our philosophy – we believe in crafting unprocessed, healthy, and nutritious versions of ingredients, just as Mother Nature intended. We carefully source and select the finest, most natural components, ensuring that every bite delivers not just exquisite flavor, but also the wholesome goodness and authentic taste that distinguishes our creations from conventional, store-bought alternatives. Your kind words about our quality, fair prices, and warm, welcoming service mean the world to our team. We are passionate about providing a memorable experience, and we are thrilled to hear that we succeeded in making your visit fantastic. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon, perhaps to explore more of our unique flavors and wholesome offerings! Warmly, Team Koko Monk Chocolates www.kokomonk.com] @mykokomonk

Iced hot chocolate? Yes, that is a thing - and at Koko Monk Chocolates it will be refreshing, have a depth of flavour, and not be too sweet. Most of their hot chocolates can be made iced. There is not a lot of room to sit, but it's bright and clean, and the service is helpful and friendly. Anyways, back to the chocolate. This place prides itself on fresh, organic ingredients, and it really shows. I had more than just a drink - it was an experience.
